Deadlines
The filing deadline for Self Assessment is the 31st of January, every year (i.e. for the tax year ending 5th April 2026, the filing deadline is 31st of January 2027)
The payment deadline for Self Assessment is also 31st January - for the balance of the tax year before, as well as the Payment on Account for the next (current) tax year (i.e. for the tax year ending 5th April 2026, the balance due to/from HMRC is payable/receivable on 31st January 2027, plus a payment on account for the next (current) tax year ending 5th April 2026 (for half of the estimated forecast tax due).
For those qualifying for Making Tax Digital (MTD), you will also need to submit quarterly returns on: 7th August, 7th November, 7th February and 7th May.
